John Adams House is in Reading town centre. The main landmarks, which are signposted from all directions, are the CIVIC CENTRE and the MALL car park.
NB: It can take 30 minutes to get from the motorway junctions into the town centre at peak times. The routes in detail are:
From the East, West or South: M4 to J.11. Take A33 Reading. Follow dual carriageway for about two miles, signed Reading, then Town Centre. Watch for BP filling station on the left, close to a junction with traffic lights. Veer right, still on A33, for Town Centre. Stay in left lane. Follow signs for Mall car park.
From the North: There are various cross-country routes leading to Reading. On the approach to the town follow signs for Town Centre and Mall car park. Alternatively, for a simple route on major roads, get to M4 J11 and follow directions for East, West or South (see above).
From Mall Car Park to John Adams House is a 5 minute walk. Leave by the Civic Centre and Hexagon exit (not the other exits into the shopping centre). Go past the Civic Centre, then between the Magistrates Court and the Police Station (Cusden Walk) to Castle Street. Cross the road and turn left. John Adams House is 100 metres on your right. **Height Restriction at Mall Car Park of 6ft – use Holybrook Car Park (Bridge Street)**
